Location: On-Site (Location in Switzerland)
Company: novoMOF AG
About the Role
novoMOF is seeking a MOF Shaping / Formulation expert to lead the development and scale-up of industrially viable Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) materials for CO₂ capture applications. This role is critical to advancing our mission of delivering high-performance sorbent technologies that support industrial decarbonization and climate solutions.
You will play a central role in shaping innovation by optimizing MOF formulations for mechanical strength, durability, and process compatibility. Your contributions will directly impact the transition from lab-scale research to real-world deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, optimization, and scale-up of MOF shaping processes (e.g., extrusion, granulation, spray/dip coating).
- Conduct material characterization, including crush strength, attrition resistance, corrosion testing, and other durability metrics.
- Apply analytical techniques (e.g., TGA, SEM, particle size) to support shaping and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with the team in material and process development to ensure shaped MOFs meet the requirements of CO₂ capture systems.
- Perform data analysis and contribute to internal documentation, technical reports, and external communications.
- Ensure safety, reproducibility, and scalability in all shaping operations.
Key Skills & Experience
This is a lab-based role requiring strong practical skills and technical expertise. The ideal candidate should have:
- An MSc (or equivalent industrial experience) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, particularly with shaping and forming powders using techniques such as extrusion, granulation, or spray/dip coating.
- Familiarity with the scale-up of shaping processes from lab to pilot scale.
- Proficiency in material characterization methods, including Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and mechanical testing (e.g., crush strength, attrition resistance, corrosion resistance).
- A strong, practical understanding of solid sorbent handling and testing.
- Experience working with materials for gas separation or CO₂ capture is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with corrosion testing, long-term mechanical stability assessments, and binder systems is a plus.
- A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently in an experimental environment.
- Good documentation and data analysis skills for reporting and communicating results.
Why Join Us?
